The Rangers have announced that Alexi Ogando will miss his scheduled start on Monday, after getting an injection in his right shoulder today.
Matt Garza is having his start moved up from Tuesday to Monday, and Monday's starter is currently "TBA," though Ross Wolf and Josh Lindblom seem like the most likely candidates.
With the Rangers having the next four Thursdays off, they can juggle their rotation so that Ogando's start only comes up once a week, on Tuesday, for the next month.
The Rangers are apparently hopeful that Ogando can avoid landing on the disabled list for the third time this season. Ogando allowed 4 runs in 6.1 innings in his last start, on Tuesday against Milwaukee. While there was some thought at one point that either Colby Lewis or Matt Harrison would be able to replace Ogando in the rotation for the month of September, both pitches have been shut down for the season, and thus the Rangers are going to have to count on Ogando the rest of the way.
