Sunday morning Rangers things

Sunday morning Rangers news and links

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone.  With Tampa, Cleveland and Texas all winning last night, BP's playoff odds have the Rangers with a 56% chance of making the playoffs, and ZiPS has the Rangers at a 54% chance of making it.

Jeff Wilson's game story talks about Matt Garza pitching yesterday like the Matt Garza they thought they were trading for, rather than the Matt Garza who they've seen the last six weeks, as well as how things are shaking out for the battle for the playoffs.

T.R. Sullivan's game story praises Garza's outing.

Todd Wills has his Rapid Reaction at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Evan Grant writes that yesterday's outing is what the Rangers were looking for when they traded for Garza.

Drew Davison runs through the various tiebreaker scenarios for the Wild Card.

Wills has an article on Garza coming up big for the Rangers yesterday.

Gil Lebreton has a column about the 2013 Rangers disappointing, putting it on too many streaky and undisciplined hitters, as well as baserunners who can't differentiate between aggressiveness and recklessness.

The S-T's notes hit on the Rangers being outside of the playoffs for the first time in September since 2009, Neal Cotts' ERA, Martin Perez being okay after getting hit, and Jeff Baker's sports hernia.

Sullivan's notes talk about Perez's health, Cotts, the Ranger players not panicking about the playoff situation, and Craig Gentry playing left field.
