Derek Holland injury: Holland denies rumors injury was from hockey

Derek Holland says his knee injury happened at home, and rejects the whispers that it was from playing hockey

Ronald Martinez

Derek Holland injury: rumors started swirling yesterday that Derek Holland's knee injury that required surgery and is keeping him out until mid-season 2014 was the result of an injury from playing hockey, rather than being from tripping on the stairs at his house, as had been reported initially.

Drew Davison has a post at the S-T Rangers blog with extensive quotes from Holland, with Holland shooting down the hockey rumors and saying it happened while playing with his dog.

Davison writes that Holland is expected to be on crutches the next six weeks, and Holland is hoping to begin running by the middle of spring training and return to the rotation before the halfway point estimates.
