Ronald Guzman, Texas Ranger first base prospect, has cracked MLB.com's list of the top 10 first base prospects in the minor leagues, coming in at #10.
The minors are currently weak in first base prospects -- to give you an idea, the Angels' C.J. Cron is the #3 first base prospect on the list -- but nevertheless, it is good to still Guzman make the cut.
Guzman spent the 2013 at low-A Hickory as an 18 year old, putting up a .272/.325/.387 line in 191 plate appearances. He didn't suffer from the contact problems most of the other Hickory teenagers did, and folks feel good about his hit tool going forward, though there are questions about whether he will develop enough power to be an above-average major league first baseman.
