Saturday morning Rangers things

Saturday morning Rangers news and links

USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, everybody.

Anthony Andro has a story about Robbie Ross coming to spring training trying to win a spot in the Rangers' rotation.

Richard Durrett also has a blog post with quotes from Ross about being a starter.

Yu Darvish was apparently asked by Japanese reporters about Masahiro Tanaka signing with the Yankees, and he reportedly responded that they should go ask Tanaka.

Rangers pitching coordinator Danny Clark had positive things to say about righthander Luke Jackson, who received the team's minor league pitcher of the year award yesterday.

Adrian Beltre had positive things to say at the banquet yesterday about the upgrades the Rangers have made to the lineup this offseason.

T.R. Sullivan has a story with quotes from Beltre and Prince Fielder about the upcoming season.

Shin-Soo Choo says that, despite his recent struggles against lefties, he's still confident he can perform against them.

Michael Kirkman says he is ready for the 2014 season.  Kirkman will be battling for a spot on the pitching staff this spring, and will have to be put on waivers if he doesn't make the team and is sent to the minors.

Ron Washington wants Mitch Moreland to get reps in the outfield this spring, but likely won't put Moreland in left field at home, because left field in Arlington is more difficult to play than in other parks.

The RBI World Series will be held in the Metroplex in 2014 and 2015, with the championship games being played at TBiA.

Kevin Sherrington writes that, if Nolan Ryan is to be a fit with the Astros, he will have to accept the sort of limited, figurehead role he didn't want to take here.

And ESPN has a story on former Ranger scout Mel Didier.
