Starting pitcher Mark Mulder has agreed to a contract with the Anaheim Angels. It has been a long time since he last won a game.

Mark Mulder has agreed to a minor league contract with the Anaheim Angels.

He hasn't pitched since 2008.  That was the last time this year's first year HOF eligibles -- Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, Kenny Rogers, Mike Mussina, Eric Gagne, Jacque Jones, Moises Alou, and Hideo Nomo, among others -- appeared.  The only reason Mulder isn't on this year's HOF ballot is because he only has nine seasons in the majors, and not the ten that is required.

Mulder hasn't won a game since 2006.

How long ago was that?

Well...

The last time Mark Mulder won a game, the opposing starting pitcher was Victor Santos.  Jason Isringhausen got the save.  Mulder was pitching for the Cardinals that day, and the lineup behind him included David Eckstein, So Taguchi, Juan Encarnacion, and Gary Bennett.  He faced the Pirates, whose leadoff hitter was center fielder Jose Bautista.  Sean Casey was their starting first baseman, Joe Randa was their third baseman, Craig Wilson was their right fielder, and Jeromy Burnitz came into the game as a pinch hitter.

The Rangers played that day.  Their starting pitcher that day was John Rheinecker.  Other starting pitchers on that day include Mike Wood, Casey Fossum, Esteban Loaiza, Jarrod Washburn, Daniel Cabrera, Matt Morris, Jorge Sosa, Steve Trachsel, Cory Lidle, and Jason Jennings.

The last time Mark Mulder won a game, Buck Showalter was the Rangers' manager, Martin Perez was a 15 year old still a year away from being eligible to sign a professional baseball contract, and Laynce Nix and Kevin Mench had not yet been traded for Carlos Lee and Nelson Cruz.  Players who appeared for the Rangers that season included Phil Nevin, Matt Stairs, Drew Meyer, Adam Hyzdu, Fabio Castro, Antonio Alfonseca, and Kip Wells.

The last time Mark Mulder won a game, the Cowboys' starting QB was Drew Bledsoe, their top receivers were Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens, and their head coach was Bill Parcells.

The same day Mark Mulder last won a game, the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Miami Heat, 98-74, to tie the NBA Finals at 2-2.  The was the second of four straight games the Heat would win to take the series.

Evan Longoria had been drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays roughly a week before Mulder last won a game.

The last time Mark Mulder won a game was in the same year Josh Hamilton was putting up a .260/.327/.360 line in 15 games in the short-season A New York Penn League, after missing all of the previous three seasons with drug issues.

The last time Mulder won a game, Ian Kinsler had 27 career hits, Shin-Soo Choo had 1 career hit, and Dustin Pedroia had 0 career hits.

The last time Mulder won a game, Prince Fielder had 12 career home runs, Matt Kemp had 7 career home runs, and Ryan Braun had 0 career home runs.

The last time Mulder won a game, Felix Hernandez had 10 career wins, Justin Verlander had 7 career wins, Jered Weaver had 4 career wins, and Cole Hamels had 1 career win.

The last time Mulder won a game, Yu Darvish had 11 career wins...in the NPB.

C.C. Sabathia has 131 wins since Mark Mulder last won a game.

Mariano Rivera has 260 saves since Mark Mulder last won a game.

Adrian Beltre has 1264 hits since Mark Mulder last won a game.

Albert Pujols has 266 home runs since Mark Mulder last won a game.

And most remarkably...the last time Mark Mulder won a game, LSB had been around for only 14 months, and the LSB Game Day Thread from that day had only 25 comments.
