Sunday morning Rangers news and links

Jeff Gross

Good morning, everyone...

Brad Townsend has a feature over at the DMN about Jeff Banister, with some more in-depth stuff on his background and family.

Evan Grant has a video of Banister talking about translating analytics into what is happening with players on the field.

Jon Daniels is talking to the agent for Colby Lewis, and a new contract for Colbyashi may be next on tap now that a manager has been hired.

Gerry Fraley has a story on Ned Yost's "one miserable season" with the Texas Rangers in the 80s, when he was hated by the fans because he was not only replacing Jim Sundberg as catcher, but had been acquired in exchange for Sundberg.  My grandmother was a passionate Rangers and Cowboys fan, and I can still remember her railing about Ned Yost and how awful he was.

Fraley also has an update on how Jake Smolinski and Lisalverto Bonilla are doing in their winter league assignments.
