Texas Rangers rumors: Yu Darvish for Yoenis Cespedes is a good idea, according to some deranged fan

Kevin Sherrington did a chat session, and got the worst question in the history of chat sessions

Texas Rangers rumors:  Yu Darvish for Yoenis Cespedes...would the Rangers make that trade?

The obvious answer is no, unless Yu Darvish's right arm was amputated.

However, it apparently wasn't obvious to a participant in a recent Kevin Sherrington chat session, who posed that question to Sherrington:

Question: Would you trade Yu Darvish for Yoenis Cespedes?

Sherrington: No, and more to the point, neither would Jon Daniels. Cespedes is a very good player, and I think the A's missed him very much in the second half. But Darvish is an ace. They're very hard to come by.

Cespedes has been roughly a 3 win player in each of the past three seasons, in both fWAR and bWAR, and he's a free agent after 2015.  Yu Darvish is a legitimate ace under team control at least through 2016, and maybe through 2017.  And the Rangers already have two holes in the starting rotation to fill, and that's assuming Nick Tepesch or Nick Martinez or someone else in the organization already can be a competent #5 starter.  And if the Rangers were to trade Yu, they'd be going into rebuilding mode, which would make Cespedes irrelevant.

This idea is so bad, on so many different levels, it makes me want to find the person who posed the question and ask them, why do you think that would be a good plan for the Rangers?

Sherrington says, in response to a later question, that acquiring Cespedes would likely cost Joey Gallo and Luke Jackson, and maybe other pieces, which I think overestimates the price for Cespedes.  Yes, power is at a premium, but you're only getting one year of Cespedes, who has put up a .251/.298/.446 line over the past two seasons.  That's not worth Gallo, much less Gallo and LuJack.
