The Texas Rangers and Colby Lewis are working on a new contract, according to multiple reports, with the Rangers having recently made an offer to Lewis's agent, Alan Nero.
Nero also represents Joe Maddon, who is supposedly talking to the Cubs (and potentially other teams) about a gig, so there is some belief out there that those negotiations are delaying the Lewis talks.
Still, by all accounts, Colby Lewis wants to come back in 2015, and the Rangers want to bring him back. Texas has a five day window where they have exclusive negotiating rights, and it sounds like the Rangers are trying to get him locked up before he hits the open market.
Lewis had a 5.18 ERA last year while leading the team with 170.1 IP, but showed improvement in the second half of the season, as he got more comfortable with how his body was working post-hip surgery, and as he was able to resume throwing between starts. Lewis had a 3.86 ERA in the second half of the season.
