While there had been discussions about the possibility that Texas would re-sign pitcher Colby Lewis before Lewis officially becomes a free agent next week, Jon Daniels has said this afternoon that a deal will not happen by then, and that Lewis will test the free agent waters.
The same thing happened last season, when Lewis talked to multiple teams before re-signing with Texas on a minor league deal, and Daniels apparently said that "the door remains open" for Lewis to return to Texas. Still, this is a disappointing development, and we just have to hope that the Rangers and Lewis can work something out after Lewis sees what else is out there.
