Pitchers Nate Adcock and Alfredo Figaro and infielder Ed Lucas have all cleared waivers, according to John Blake on Twitter, and been outrighted to AAA. Adcock has elected free agency.
Figaro and Lucas were claimed on waivers since the end of the season, but were not expected to survive on the 40 man roster through the entire offseason. It isn't immediately clear whether they can become free agents now or not, but given that it was announced that Adcock elected free agency, I'm guessing that Figaro and Lucas are not eligible. I could certainly be wrong, however.
With these moves, the Rangers' 40 man roster will stand at 40 players once the players who are free agents officially become free agents, and the players on the 60 day disabled list are activated off the d.l. The Rangers will still need to clear several spots to add players currently in their system to protect them from the Rule 5 draft. Luke Jackson and Jorge Alfaro are locks to be added, and several other players, such as Will Lamb, Jerad Eickhoff, and Odubel Herrera, are candidates to be added. The deadline for adding players to the 40 man roster is in the second half of November.
