Texas Rangers prospects:  The Texas League top 20 list for 2014 from Baseball America features five Texas Rangers prospects.

Despite his struggles over the last six weeks or so of the season, Joey Gallo claimed the #1 spot on the rankings, finishing ahead of Jon Gray, the #3 overall pick in the 2013 draft.

Also making the top five was righthanded pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez, who nabbed the #5 spot in the rankings, and earned praise for his fastball and slider, both of which were described as plus pitches.

Luke Jackson, the righthander who earned a promotion to Round Rock midway through the 2014 campaign, checked in at #7, while Ryan Rua, who ended the season getting regular at bats for the Rangers in September, was ranked the #9 prospect in the Texas League.

Rounding out the Ranger contingent was Alec Asher, the Colby Lewis doppelganger who was slotted in at #12 on the Texas League list.

As with the Carolina League rankings, the Rangers' representation in the Texas League rankings is strong, and provides some measure of encouragement about what is on the farm after a 2014 season that was filled with disappointment on the major league level.
