Saturday morning Rangers news and links

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, folks...

The big news from yesterday was the official announcement that Jon Daniels and Thad Levine have contract extensions, which put them under contract through 2018.

Jeff Wilson has a story on the extensions, and Levine's additional responsibilities since A.J. Preller departed for San Diego.

Anthony Andro has a story on the extensions given to Daniels and Levine.

T.R. Sullivan also has a story on Daniels and Levine getting extended.

Evan Grant writes that the extensions are about ownership's desire to maintain stability and continuity within the organization.

Tim Cowlishaw writes that giving extensions to Daniels and Levine is a good move for the organization.

Tracy Ringolsby has a column praising the decision to extend Daniels and Levine.

Calvin Watkins writes that, with the Rangers now extending their top two front office guys, the team can move forward in dealing with what needs to be done this offseason.

Sullivan writes that the Rangers will be looking to the trade market to fortify their major league roster, and specifically identifies San Diego and Cincinnati as teams that could possibly match up with Texas.

While there has been speculation and rumors this offseason that shortstop Elvis Andrus could be moved, Jon Daniels says the team is committed to Andrus.

Daniels also says he isn't worried about Yu Darvish's durability.
