Hanley Ramirez to Boston for estimated 5 years, $90 million, per Ken Rosenthal

Ken Rosenthal says that free agent Hanley Ramirez is traveling to Boston tomorrow to finalist a contract estimated to be 5 years, $90 million

Hanley Ramirez to the Boston Red Sox? Ken Rosenthal says that free agent Hanley Ramirez is traveling to Boston tomorrow to finalist a contract estimated to be 5 years, $90 million:

Ramirez, who turns 31 in December, was originally signed as an amateur free agent by the Red Sox, and was sent to the Florida Marlins in the Josh Beckett deal.  Ramirez has had issues staying healthy, and isn't really a shortstop anymore, but there are suggestions that the BoSox will look to move him to third base or the outfield.

Five years, $90 million is exactly what the anonymous general manager predicted for Ramirez in Jon Heyman's free agent prediction column.  Heyman and the anonymous agent both went higher, but Rosenthal has previously written that returning to Boston had a special appeal for Ramirez, and it may be he was willing to leave some money on the table to go to Boston.
