Melky Cabrera and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a three year deal worth around $45 million, according to Bruce Levine on Twitter.
Cabrera, 30, has had an up-and-down career, performing at a largely mediocre level until 2011, when he had a solid season with the Royals. He then had a breakout 2012 campaign with the Giants that was cut short by a PED suspension. Cabrera posted a motley 682 OPS in 2013 for the Blue Jays, but bounced back in 2014 with an 808 OPS.
The White Sox have made several big splashes this offseason, with the acquisition of Jeff Samardzija and the signings of Adam LaRoche and David Robertson.
