Texas Rangers update: Jurickson Profar will not throw or hit for the next week, according to the beat guys on Twitter.
Profar, who has been dealing with shoulder tendinitis, got a cortisone shot a few weeks ago, per reports, and is expected to just DH initially in spring games.
Profar, who spent much of last season acting as a utility player, is expected to take over for Ian Kinsler as the Rangers' everyday second baseman this year. If, for whatever reason, Profar can't go, the Rangers don't really have a lot of real good options behind him...Adam Rosales is expected to be the team's utility infielder, Brent Lillibridge is going to be in AAA, and while Rougned Odor is a second baseman and is one of the team's top prospects, he has scarcely played above A ball and will likely start the season in AA Frisco.
If you want to worry, there's this from Jon Daniels, via Anthony Andro:
Rangers GM Jon Daniels on Profar: There's not much room for another setback to get ready for Opening Day.
