Texas Rangers rumors: Outfielder Nelson Cruz has spent the offseason looking for a lucrative four or five year deal, but with spring training approaching and no such offer on the table, Jon Heyman writes that things are getting more serious between Cruz and the Mariners on a shorter-term deal.
Per Heyman, the M's are "amenable" to a two year deal with an option for Cruz, maybe going to three years. Heyman mentions the Rangers as a fallback option, and if the price for Cruz is two years plus an option year, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers made an offer that was at least in the ballpark of what Seattle is willing to offer, and hope that Cruz will want to stay with the Rangers and continue hitting in a ballpark more conducive to his game.
