Fernando Rodney to Seattle Mariners: reliever Fernando Rodney has, according to the Tweeter, agreed to a 2 year, $14 million deal with the Seattle Mariners.
Rodney, who turns 37 in March, had a 3.38 ERA in 66.2 innings in 2013 with the Tampa Bay Rays. He will presumably be the closer for the Mariners.
There have been mixed reports as to how much money the M's have available to spend, but this deal would seem to make it less likely that they will sign Nelson Cruz or Kendrys Morales, two hitters the Rangers seem to have some interest in.
