Texas Rangers update: Catcher Chris Snyder, recently released by the Washington Nationals, has been signed by the Texas Rangers to a minor league deal.
Per Evan Grant, whose story is linked above, Snyder is expected to start the season at AAA Round Rock and serve as minor league depth.
Snyder, 33, was a second round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2002 draft. He was with the Diamondbacks until midway through the 2010 season, when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Snyder spent 2012 with the Astros, and split 2013 between the Nationals, the Angels and the Orioles organizations. Snyder was released by the Nats, who had him in camp on a minor league deal, yesterday.
