San Diego Padres claim Alex Castellanos on waivers from Texas Rangers

Alex Castellanos, DFA'd by the Rangers to make room for Joe Saunders on the 40 man roster, has been claimed by the San Diego Padres

Alex Castellanos, who was designated for assignment by the Rangers earlier this week in order to make room for Joe Saunders on the 40 man roster, has been claimed on waivers by the San Diego Padres.

Castellanos, 27, is a righthanded hitting corner outfielder who was traded by the Dodgers to the Red Sox in October, 2013.  Boston then waived Castellanos, and Texas claimed him on waivers in December.
