The Texas Rangers have acquired righthanded pitcher Hector Noesi from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later or cash, per T.R. Sullivan.
To make room for Noesi on the 40 man roster, the Rangers transferred Jurckson Profar to the 60 day d.l. from the 15 day d.l. Noesi appears to be out of options, so the Rangers will have to make a roster move to make room for him on the 25 man roster when he reports.
Noesi was acquired by the M's along with Jesus Montero as part of the deal that sent Michael Pineda to the Yankees. Noesi was used both as a starter and a reliever by the M's, and has a career 5.64 ERA (70 ERA+) in 191.1 innings. My guess is that the Rangers end up waiving him in the next week or two and will try to outright him to AAA.
This is a curious move, as I had assumed the Rangers were going to use the Jurickson Profar move to make room for Colby Lewis on the 40 man roster. Lewis is being added either Monday or Tuesday, so the Rangers will have to make another move at that point to clear a 25 man roster spot and a 40 man roster spot.
