Saturday morning Rangers news and links

Tom Pennington

Good morning, everyone.

Jeff Wilson's game story talks about Martin Perez and Robinson Chirinos each having a great game, and that combination working well together so far.

Anthony Andro's game story highlights the various Rangers who had career games yesterday.

T.R. Sullivan, in his game story, talks about the Rangers being just the fourth team in the last 45 years to have at least five shutouts in their first seventeen games.

Evan Grant has his game report at the DMN Rangers blog.

Randy Jennings has a Rapid Reaction at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Grant has Five Things He Thinks He Thinks after yesterday's game.

Perez said afterwards it was important to him to get the complete game.

Grant writes that, while Martin Perez's game is garnering the most attention, Leonys Martin's performance yesterday may be more important long-term.

Drew Davison writes that the elbow issue that landed Tanner Scheppers on the d.l. is something that has bothered him for a while, and that he tried to pitch through.

Andro writes that Scheppers thought the problem initially was tendinitis.

Neftali Feliz was not recalled to take the open roster spot because, Jon Daniels says, Feliz isn't ready yet.

In Sullivan's piece on the move, Jon Daniels says that Scheppers is still a starter, though they will talk about what role he will fill when he returns at that time, while Scheppers says the injury wasn't related to him starting.

Grant notes that Scheppers was dealing with the soreness at the end of last season, when he had one of the heavier workloads for a reliever in the league.

Sullivan's notes hit on Matt Harrison's rehab start today, Joe Saunders going to Arizona to rehab, Adrian Beltre's status, Daniel Bard throwing bullpen sessions, and Aaron Poreda being called up.
