Kevin Kouzmanoff injury: Ranger third baseman likely to undergo surgery for herniated disc

Per the beat writers on Twitter, Kevin Kouzmanoff "likely" will have surgery for his herniated disc

Kevin Kouzmanoff injury update:  Texas Ranger third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff will "likely" have surgery for his herniated disc, according to the beat writers on Twitter.

Richard Durrett says that Kouzmanoff estimates the time he'd be out if he has surgery as 7-12 weeks, which would mean he'd be out until July or August, most likely.

Kouzmanoff left Tuesday's game in Oakland when his back tightened up, and while it was initially thought it was a minor issue and he'd be able to play soon thereafter, he ended up going on the disabled list.

This is, of course, just the latest blow to the Rangers' depth.  Kouzmanoff had been off to a red-hot start to the season, and even with Beltre back, figured to be in the DH mix and give the Rangers depth at the infield corners.  Now, they will be without Kouzmanoff until, most likely, after the All Star Break.
