Matt Harrison injury update: Matt Harrison's journey back to the Texas Rangers' rotation took another big step forward today, as he went 4.2 innings in a rehab outing for AA Frisco, throwing 62 pitches.
He was originally slated to go 4 innings or 65 pitches, but he apparently was comfortable enough after four innings that they left him in to start the fifth so he could get closer to the 65 pitch target. I don't have his final numbers, but per Anthony Andro on Twitter, Harrison was at 47 pitches through 4 innings, with 1 hit allowed, 3 Ks and 0 walks. The final batter Harrison faced before being lifted hit what was described on Twitter as a wind-aided RBI double.
Our own TepidP was tweeting about the outing from Frisco, and had positive reports:
Harrison sharp in the first. FB 87-89, good CB, good command, good tempo.

Harrison's tempo is noticeable quicker. It's working well through 2. Locating both the 2-seamer and offspeed stuff.

Lots of ground balls/weak contact on Harrison today. He lolls much better. Velo still 88-90, but the CH is good. Got a swing K w/great CH.

The Rangers are apparently targeting April 23 for Harrison's return. That would mean two more rehab starts for Harrison -- one on April 13, and one on April 18.
