A couple of pitchers who have spent some time on the disabled list returned to action today for the AAA Round Rock Express.
Neftali Feliz, who missed almost a month with general fatigue and who has been working his way back from 2012 Tommy John surgery, pitched a scoreless inning today for the Express. He struck out a batter, gave up a double to Oscar Taveras, and threw 10 strikes in 14 pitches.
25 year old lefty Chad Bell, meanwhile, had a much rougher go of it, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and a walk while recording just a single out. Just getting on the mound in game action is significant for Bell, though, given that he had Tommy John surgery 13 months ago, and hadn't pitched in a real game since 2012.
Bell, a 14th rounder in 2009, was really just starting to establish himself as a legit prospect before surgery de-railed him, and he's someone who could be in the mix for a major league job sometime in 2015.
With Feliz, meanwhile, the hope is that gets his groove back and can assume a significant role in the Ranger bullpen in the second half of 2014.
