Saturday morning Rangers news and links

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, everyone.

Jeff Wilson's game story focuses on Mitch Moreland, who will be asked to assume a bigger role with Prince Fielder out, as well as suggesting that both Robbie Ross and Joe Saunders were thinking that they could have pitched as well as Scott Baker (who allowed 6 runs) did.

T.R. Sullivan's game story hits on Scott Baker's not very good start, and the question of whether he stays in the rotation, or if he's replaced by Joe Saunders.

Richard Durrett has his Rapid Reaction at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Evan Grant has his game report at the DMN Rangers blog.

Miguel Cabrera touched Adrian Beltre's head last night.

Scott Baker says he didn't execute his pitches last night.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers have a tough decision to make, as to whether Baker should stay in the rotation.

Anthony Andro highlights the most unusual injuries that have stricken Rangers players since the start of 2013.

Evan Grant has a blog post answering questions about the Prince Fielder situation.

With Fielder hurt, the Rangers' backup first baseman would be either Robinson Chirinos or Chris Gimenez.

Richard Justice writes that the Rangers, going forward this season, will demonstrate how a great franchise deals with tough times, and thinks the team can still be playing meaningful games in September this year.

Durrett's stock report has Prince Fielder in the "down" category.  He also writes about the Rangers' need to move forward without Prince.

Adam Berry has a story on Luke Jackson having another quality start for Frisco yesterday.

Richard Durrett writes that the Rangers shouldn't be looking to deal prospects at the deadline this year.

Grant says the Rangers should sign Kendrys Morales, even if it costs them a draft pick.  I disagree...I'd rather keep the draft pool intact than sign Morales before June 5.

MiLB.com has a story about how Jackson working with Frisco pitching coach Jeff Andrews on his curve ball has improved his command of the pitch, and helped fuel his success this year.

Yu Darvish has started doing extra fielding practice regularly.

The S-T's notes talk about the second base situation, Daniel Robertson, and Nick Martinez.

Sullivan's notes hit on Robertson, Donnie Murphy, second base, and Moreland.

Durrett has notes on Robertson, Joakim Soria, and Martinez.
