The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of righthanded pitcher Scott Baker from AAA Round Rock.
To make room on the 25 man roster for Baker, the Rangers have optioned outfielder Daniel Robertson to AAA. To make room on the 40 man roster for Baker, the Rangers have put Pedro Figueroa, who is out for the year after undergoing Tommy John surgery, on the 60 day disabled list.
The Rangers are bringing up Baker to fortify their bullpen, which has been ridden heavily due to a spate of short starts over the past ten days or so.
With Robertson being sent down, the Rangers are down to a three man bench.
