Hall of Fame outfielder Tony Gwynn has passed away at the age of 54, per reports on Twitter.  Gwynn had been diagnosed with cancer in 2010.

Gwynn was an incredibly gifted hitter who spent his entire career with the San Diego Padres.  He amassed 3141 hits, 19th all time, and retired with a .338 batting average which was 20th of all time.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007, on his first ballot, amassing 97.6% of the vote from the BBWAA.

Baseball has lost one of its all-time greats today.
