Texas Rangers first baseman has told the Rangers he plans on having season-ending ankle surgery, per Jeff Wilson:
#Rangers sorting through particulars, but Mitch Moreland has told them he will have ankle reconstruction and likely miss rest of year.— Jeff Wilson (@JeffWilson_FWST) June 17, 2014
So that's that. There was a report last week that Moreland might do a different surgery that would require him to just miss three to four weeks, but that's apparently not going to happen now.
And thus, we are going to be rolling with the Brad Snyder/Donnie Murphy platoon for the time being, with Carlos Pena waiting in the wings in AAA.
