The Texas Rangers have optioned infielder Luis Sardinas to AAA Round Rock, per John Blake on Twitter. To replace Sardinas on the 25 man roster, the Rangers will be purchasing the contract of infielder Adam Rosales.
Sardinas was brought up along with Rougned Odor to replace Donnie Murphy (dl'd) and Josh Wilson (dfa'd) in May, but Odor has been getting the majority of the starts at second base. With this move, the Rangers appear to be committing to Odor as the everyday second baseman, and are sending Sardinas down so he can get regular playing time.
The Rangers will have to make a move to clear a spot on the 40 man roster for Rosales, but with Kevin Kouzmanoff, Mitch Moreland, Alexi Ogando and Tanner Scheppers all candidates to be moved to the 60 day disabled list, clear a 40 man spot shouldn't present a problem.
