Don Zimmer, longtime player, coach and manager who managed the Rangers in two different seasons, has passed away, according to multiple media reports. Zimmer was 83.
Zimmer spent quite a few years in the major leagues as an infielder, coming up as a third baseman in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. Zimmer managed the Texas Rangers in 1981 and 1982, one of four different teams he managed in his post-playing career. Zimmer also worked as a coach up until a couple of years ago.
