Saturday morning Rangers news and links

Layne Murdoch Jr.

Morning everybody.

Anthony Andro's game story talks about rookies Michael Choice and Rougned Odor leading the offense in yesterday's 6-4 win.

Jeff Wilson's game story talks about Choice bailing out Yu Darvish, and also has a quote from Ron Washington where he refers to Rougned Odor as "Odie."

Richard Durrett has his Rapid Reaction to the Rangers' 6-4 victory.  Evan Grant has a game report at the DMN Rangers blog.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers will need contributions from everyone to stay in the playoff race.

Elvis Andrus extended his hitting streak against the Indians to 38 games, which is tied for 2nd all time.

Durrett has a piece about the importance of Elvis to the offense, with Adrian Beltre calling him the engine of the offense, and Ron Washington calling him the catalyst.

Durrett writes about the Rangers winning despite Yu not being at his best yesterday.

Andro talked to David Murphy about returning to Texas for the first time as a member of another team.

Richard Durrett also has a piece on Murphy returning to Texas.

Derek Holland is going to do pitcher fielding practice on Monday, and if that goes well, he will go out on a rehab assignment.

And while Holland's return would provide a boost, Evan Grant writes the Rangers are also looking to upgrade the offense, in the form of Kendrys Morales.  Grant notes that the Rangers are getting $8 million this year from insurance as a result of the Matt Harrison and Prince Fielder injuries, and could allocate that towards Morales.

Durrett has a write-up on the second day of the draft for the Rangers.

T.R. Sullivan also has notes on the various players the Rangers took in day two.

The S-T's notes include stuff on the draft, and updates on injured Rangers Geovany Soto (who says he expected to be activated the first game after the ASB), Jim Adduci, Derek Holland and Engel Beltre.
