Tuesday Morning Texas Rangers Update

The number one source for all your Marwin Gonzalez trade attempts

Good morning.

I think leaking private information is pretty scummy. However, for baseball fans who have always wanted to be a fly on the wall in the front office, the Astros' leaked trade negotiations are pretty fascinating. That is, until you find out that Jon Daniels is pretty much a huge masochist and wanted to acquire Marwin Gonzalez.

Speaking of masochists, T.R. Sullivan writes about the Rangers losing 7-1 because Joe Saunders is a Texas Ranger.

Evan Grant recaps Saunders' blowout and then his post game blow up. When once Saunders was confused as to why the Rangers were in no rush to get him in the rotation, after last night's game, he said the following about his efforts:

It's just [expletive] miserable. It's not fun. ... This is a game of ‘What have you done lately,' and I haven't done [expletive]."

Jeff Wilson's game story covers how last night's game shows that, with no one to replace Saunders in the rotation and a plethora of youngsters, these Rangers are a work in progress.

ESPN Dallas' Randy Jennings writes about how Robinson Chirinos has turned himself into a pleasant surprise at the plate and behind it this season.

Sullivan's Notebook covers the Padres seeking an interview with Rangers assistant general manager A.J. Preller for their open GM position, Joakim Soria unworried (unless he faces Minnesota) after a couple of rough outings, and the return of Adam Rosales among other items.

Wilson notes a possible return date for Geovany Soto who should begin a rehab assignment on Friday and is looking at a mid-July return.

David Adler previews tonight's game between the Rangers and Orioles with the Orioles needing a spot starter and the Rangers having to use a guy who should be in Frisco.

Lastly, we've got our silver screen Josh Hamilton! No word on if he's starting a dip habit and/or trying out different sunlight-dampening contacts. Energy drinks are a must, however.
