Sunday morning Rangers news and links

Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

Hey everyone.

Stefan Stevenson's game story laments the Rangers inability to string quality starts together.

Anthony Andro's game story talks about Ron Washington leaving Miles Mikolas in the game in the 6th inning because the club is in "teaching mode," and he wants to give the young pitchers a chance to learn and figure things out.

Over at the Rangers' website, the game story focuses on the sixth inning that changed the balance of the game.

Randy Jennings has his Rapid Reaction to yesterday's 5-2 loss at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Gerry Fraley has his post-game writeup at the DMN Rangers blog.

Miles Mikolas talks about being disappointed he couldn't go deeper into the game and hold onto the lead.

Fraley suggests Jake Smolinski could be the new Rusty Greer.

Before yesterday's game, Eric Nadel was honored by the club for winning the Ford C. Frick Award.

The Rangers' website also has a story on the pre-game ceremony honoring Nadel.  The S-T also has a story on the team honoring Nadel.

Evan Grant's mid-season report compares the Rangers players to characters from the Star Wars movies, and it is pretty amusing, even if he does link Elvis Andrus to Jar Jar Binks.

The Rangers are pulling Engel Beltre off of his rehab assignment in order to work with him on agility drills.

Gerry Fraley notes that the Rangers are currently 0-14 in games that Scott Baker, Sunday's starter, pitches in.

T.R. Sullivan's notes talk about Jake Smolinski, Geovany Soto, JIm Adduci, Derek Holland, and Sunday's starter.

The S-T's notes talk about Derek Holland, Geovany Soto, and Ryan Feierabend, and also mention that Colby Lewis volunteered to be available out of the bullpen on Sunday.
