Keith Law Top 50 Prospect List: 3 Rangers make the grade

Keith Law has three Texas Rangers prospects in his mid-season top 50 list

Keith Law Top 50 Prospect List:  The Texas Rangers placed three prospects on Keith Law's midseason top 50 prospect list.

Third baseman Joey Gallo checked in at #18 on the list, just behind Dodger hurler Julio Urias.  Catcher Jorge Alfaro was at #31, between Tyler Kolek and Michael Conforto.  And in a mild surprise, centerfielder Lewis Brinson was slotted at #48.

Brinson was not getting a lot of hype coming into the 2014 season, after a 2013 season at Hickory that saw him put up a 749 OPS while fanning 191 times in 503 plate appearances.  But Brinson has (between leg issues) had a breakout campaign in 2014, putting up a .323/.387/.549 line in 43 games at Hickory and 7 games at high-A Myrtle Beach.  Law thinks that, even if Brinson strikes out at a 30% rate, he can be an above-average centerfielder, and it is nice to see Brinson place so highly in Law's rankings.
