Yankees 4, Rangers 2
- I didn't do a thoughts post a couple of games ago, because it went deep into extra innings and was very late and I was tired. Then last night, we had the stupid game that involved the rain and the tarp not working and the game getting called early, and by the time it was over we had the Joakim Soria news.
- And then we had this game, which was a day game, and the Rangers lost once again. It seems devoid of meaning.
- Colby Lewis had a good enough start, allowing 3 runs in 6.1 IP, on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 2 and hitting a batter. It brought his ERA all the way down to 6.23. Lewis has pitched better of late...he has three quality starts in his last five games, and in one of the two non-QS games, he gave up 2 runs in 5 innings. The fifth outing, though, was that 2.1 IP, 13 run game against the Mets that screwed everything up. Lewis would have a 5.32 ERA this season, if it weren't for that disastrous outing in New York a few weeks back. That's still not good, but it wouldn't be quite so awful.
- I don't know what to think about the Colby Lewis situation. There's part of me that thinks, it doesn't matter at this point, he came back, he's pitched, the season is lost, who cares, let's move on. There's also part of me that thinks that, given the state of the rotation, if he can be solid over the next couple of months, maybe the Rangers would consider bringing him back next year.
- Who knows, at this point.
- Ryan Feierabend gave up a run today. Jerome Williams is getting called up tomorrow, and he needs a 25 man and a 40 man roster spot, so it could be Feierabend's last hurrah as a Ranger pitcher.
- Roman Mendez retired the two batters he faced today. He now has 9.1 scoreless innings on the season. Go, Roman Mendez, go.
- Rougned Odor had a pair of hits. J.P. Arencibia had a homer. That's all there is to say about the offense today.
- Man, I'm ready for us to get to the offseason.
