Texas Rangers minor league pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez has been named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week. Yay Chi Chi!
Gonzalez, the Rangers' first round draft choice in 2013, threw 6 innings of 1 run ball on Tuesday of last week, allowing 4 hits, striking out 6 and walking 2, and then threw 5 no-hit innings on Sunday, striking out a pair of hitters and walking one batter, while allowing 2 unearned runs.
Gonzalez was promoted to Frisco, the Rangers' Texas League affiliate, just over two months ago, after having spent the first month of the season at high-A Myrtle Beach. On the season, Gonzalez has a 2.39 ERA in 120.2 IP, with 94 Ks and 36 walks, with just 3 homers allowed.
