The Texas Rangers have traded catcher Chris Gimenez to the Cleveland Indians for future considerations, according to John Blake on Twitter.
Gimenez had been at AAA Round Rock, after clearing waivers and accepting an outright assignment earlier this month. He is being added to the 25 and 40 man rosters for the Indians.
Gimenez had been claimed on waivers by the Rangers at the end of spring training, was waived after a couple of games and outrighted, and then was brought back up after J.P. Arencibia was sent to the minors. Gimenez did an acceptable job as a backup, and will now get the opportunity to accrue some more major league service time with Cleveland.
