Shin-Soo Choo to have elbow surgery, out for the rest of the year

Shin-Soo Choo will undergo surgery for a bone spur in his left elbow, which will keep him out for the rest of the year

Shin-Soo Choo will miss the remainder of the season due to a bone spur in his elbow, according to the beat guys on Twitter.  Choo is going to have surgery on his elbow to remove the bone spur, which has, per the beat guys, been bothering him since spring training.

Choo has been awful this year, but he's been playing with a bad ankle since April, and now, we learn, with a bad elbow since spring training.  That certainly makes his struggles much more understandable, and really, makes me feel better about things...I'd rather Choo be struggling because he's been injured and playing through it, rather than because he's just not any good any more.

With Choo going on the d.l., Michael Choice is being called up to replace him on the active roster.
