The Texas Rangers have made four transactions today.
Derek Holland has been activated from the 60 day disabled list and put on the active roster, and Robbie Ross has been recalled from AAA Round Rock.
To make room for Holland on the 25 and 40 man roster, the Rangers have designated Mike Carp for assignment. To make room for Ross on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have optioned Nick Tepesch to AAA Round Rock.
Round Rock's season ends on September 1, so Tepesch will be able to be recalled in time for his next start. Carp had been acquired as someone the Rangers were looking at as possible bench bat for 2015, but have apparently decided he's not someone they are going to keep around on the 40 man roster.
Ross will start today, though he will probably only go a few innings, having pitched just a couple of days ago.
