Welcome to Frisco, Jorge Alfaro.
Jorge Alfaro, the Rangers' 21 year old catching prospect, is being promoted from high-A Myrtle Beach to AA Frisco, according to reports.
Alfaro came into the season generally considered one of the Rangers' top two position prospects, along with Rougned Odor. Although most prognosticators have Joey Gallo as the team's top position prospect at this point, Alfaro is still solidly the #2 guy among Rangers prospects, and seems to be generally viewed as a top 50 prospect in the game. Alfaro's calling cards are his big-time arm and his big-time power, though his overall receiving skills are still a work in progress, and he needs to improve his contact ability.
UPDATE -- And Alfaro may not be the only guy getting promoted to Frisco:
Sources indicate Nomar Mazara has been promoted to Frisco. But you know how #sources are.

Mazara has been in low-A Hickory this season, so this would be a two level jump for him, but after a poor start, he's posted almost a 1000 OPS over the past two and a half months.
