With Mike Carp being claimed on waivers by the Rangers yesterday, Texas had to make a roster move today to clear a spot on the 25 man roster for him.
That move has now been announced -- Chris Gimenez is going on paternity leave. He can be on the paternity leave list for up to three games. Once Gimenez returns from the paternity leave list, the Rangers will have to make another roster move to clear space for him on the 25 man roster. Given that the Rangers are currently carrying 13 pitchers and have a 3 man bench, I would assume that a pitcher will go down once Gimenez returns.
The Rangers have also announced than Ryan Feierabend, who was designated for assignment when Phil Klein was brought up to the majors, has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to AAA.
