Texas Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine has removed himself from consideration for the Arizona Diamondbacks general manager job, per Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
#Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine has told Tony LaRussa that he is withdrawing from consideration for Arizona's GM job.— Jeff Wilson (@JeffWilson_FWST) September 16, 2014
Levine, considered the #2 guy in the Rangers baseball operations, was mentioned as one of close to a dozen candidates who were being considered for the D-Backs job. The Rangers have already lost A.J. Preller, who was hired by the Padres to be their g.m., earlier this year, and losing Levine as well would have been a significant blow.
