The good news: The Rockies beat the Dodgers tonight so the Rangers maintain a 1.5 game lead in the race for the top pick in the 2015 draft. Now, the bad news: The Rangers beat the A's to keep their lead in the race for the top pick in the 2015 draft at only 1.5 games.

And, perhaps, the best news: The Rangers beat the A's to cause them to lose a game in the Wild Card standings and put them one game closer to being eliminated from the postseason.

Player of the Game: Jake Smolinski hit the first home run of his career to put the Rangers up 2-0. Congrats, Smo.
