The Oakland A's are in some serious trouble. The Rangers came to Oakland with a three game winning streak and leave with a season high six game streak. The Rangers swept the A's to ramp up their desperation to qualify for the postseason. The Rangers swept the A's in Oakland for the second time this season. Before sweeping the Braves last weekend, the Rangers' sweep of Oakland in April was the only other sweep this season. This seems remarkable considering the A's were the best team in the game for most of this season.
About a week ago it seemed certain that the Rangers would lose 100 plus games. It seems pretty likely that they'll avoid that indignity. Now the Rangers have to worry about losing their grip on the first pick of the 2015 draft.
Player of the Game: Congratulations to Adrian Beltre for becoming the all-time leader in hits by a Dominican Republic MLBer.
