The Rangers had been wooing the Carolina Mudcats of the Carolina League, but the Mudcats opted to affiliate themselves with the Atlanta Braves. High Desert was the last remaining high-A affiliate, so that's where Texas is landing.
High Desert is an extremely hitter-friendly park, and the California League in general is a very hitter-friendly league, so expect to see some eye-popping offensive numbers, as well as some ugly pitching lines, from the Rangers prospects in high-A in 2015.
The Rangers had been affiliated with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for the past four years, but Myrtle Beach struck a development deal with the Chicago Cubs, leaving the Rangers to find a new home for their high-A affiliate.
