The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of infielder Guilder Rodriguez, adding him to the active roster and the 40 man roster. To make room for Rodriguez on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have put Yu Darvish on the 60 day disabled list.
This is something of a Lifetime Achievement Award for Rodriguez. The 31 year old infielder has been part of the Rangers system since 2009, bouncing between AA and AAA. He's been credited with having a huge influence on the careers of guys like Martin Perez and Rougned Odor, and being an 80 character guy who is the type of person you want in your organization.
Rodriguez has been playing in the States since 2002, when he was in rookie ball in the Brewers organization, and this is his first time in the major leagues.
I'd wager there are a lot of people out there who are very excited about this right now.
