Ross Detwiler and the Texas Rangers have agreed on a one year contract for $3.45 million. Detwiler was arbitration-eligible, but this agreement avoids the possibility of an arbitration hearing. MLB Trade Rumors had projected $3.3 million for Detwiler.
Detwiler, who turns 29 in March, is a former #6 overall pick of the Washington Nationals who has bounced between starting and relieving in his major league career. The Rangers acquired him this winter for Abel de los Santos and Chris Bostick, and anticipate using him as a starting pitcher this year.
Detwiler is a free agent after this season.
