25 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training for the Texas Rangers.
Scott Baker wore #25 for the Rangers in 2014, but I'm not featuring Baker here, because if we're wanting to get hyped about baseball season coming, talking about Baker and the 2014 Rangers isn't going to do it.
#25 has been a special number in Rangers history -- should-be-in-the-Hall-of-Fame third baseman Buddy Bell wore it for his 7+ seasons in Texas, should-be-in-the-Hall-of-Fame first baseman wore it for both his five year stints in Texas, and possible-Hall-of-Fame centerfielder Andruw Jones wore it that one year he was in Texas. And then there is Mike Napoli, who wore it during his memorable two-year run as a Ranger catcher/1B/DH/fan favorite, in the 2011-12 campaigns.
Buddy Bell was my favorite Ranger growing up, Rafael Palmeiro was one of my favorites while he was here (and is someone I still have a soft spot for, positive test or not), and Mike Napoli is Mike Napoli. Whoever has #25 next has big shoes to fill.
