Game one of this series against the Anaheim Angels features lefthander Andrew Heaney pitching for the Angels, and Jeff Banister has decided not to put Mike Napoli in left field.
Instead, Josh Hamilton is starting in left field today, with Mike Napoli at first base and Mitch Moreland on the bench. This could be because Banister thinks Hamitlon will be particularly motivated to punish his former team, or it could be because the Rangers are starting a lefthander in Derek Holland, and Banister wants a stronger defender in left field (where righthanded hitters would be pulling the ball). Or it could just be that he thinks Hamilton is a better options against lefties than Moreland.
The lineup:
DeShields -- CF
Choo -- RF
Beltre -- 3B
Prince -- DH
Napoli -- 1B
Hamilton -- LF
Elvis -- SS
Odor -- 2B
Chirinos -- C
Derek Holland pitches for Texas.
